OKC police release footage of fatal officer-involved shooting in early May

New video footage shows Oklahoma City police confronting an armed man at a home in the 7400 block of Northwest 106th Street on May 5, shortly before 8 p.m.

OCPD said officers were dispatched to the home following reports of a domestic disturbance. But a caller later told dispatchers the man was shooting a gun.

In part of the video, a man identified by police as Kenneth Allsen is seen firing a rifle while standing in an alley.

Moments later, a police officer approached the home. “When officers arrived, they came into contact with an armed individual outside of the home,” said Captain Valerie Littlejohn of the Oklahoma City Police Department.

The responding officer, who is a lieutenant in the department with 10 years of service, can be heard saying, “Turn around, get on your knees.” Get on your knees.

But this officer was not wearing a body camera, which is standard policy for department lieutenants.

However, a second officer who responded shortly afterward was wearing a body camera.

“Is this the suspect here?” The officer can be heard asking. “Yeah.”

“Hey! Don't reach…” the lieutenant shouts at Allsen before shooting him.

According to court records, officers recovered several rounds of ammunition and three firearms.

Police say two of those weapons were found on Allsen's body.
