Oisin Gregg: Heartfelt tributes pour in for teenager

The Belleek teenager died following a serious collision near Kesh last week and will be buried this Sunday, June 16.

As a former student of Belleek Primary School and Devenish College, Mr Gregg is fondly remembered by both schools for the impact he had on the school communities.

On social media, a spokesperson for Belleek Primary School wrote: “It is with great sadness that we learn of the untimely death of our former pupil, Oisin Gregg.

“Oisin was a quiet, caring child with a passion for football. As a school community we are heartbroken.

“Oisin’s tragic death has devastated the entire Belleek community. We hope that some comfort will come to the Gregg family knowing that we will all do our best to support you in the days, weeks, months and even years to come.

In addition to this, Mr Gregg's former teacher, Elaine McMorris, shared on social media: “I have treasured memories of teaching Oisin. He was the best little boy. He was gentle, caring and a friend to everyone.

Also on social media, his former school, Devenish College, wrote: “The Devenish College community is devastated and heartbroken to learn of the tragic passing of our former student, Oisin Gregg.

“Oisin brought so much to our college during his five years as a student.

“He was such a kind, pleasant, polite and hard-working young man, with fantastic spirit and enthusiasm.

“His love of sport was so evident in football and athletics. He also represented our school at rugby, being a key member of the 2022 Pollock Cup winning team.”

Tributes remembered Mr Gregg as a “committed” member of the North Fermanagh Young Defenders Flute Band.

“It is with deep sadness and regret that we have lost not only a member of our group, but also someone we were lucky enough to call our friend,” a tribute read.

“We can only thank him for his efforts, his commitment and also for simply choosing us to share so many memorable moments together.

“He will be greatly missed and will always be remembered by his entire North Fermanagh Young Defenders family.”

Mr Gregg is survived by his mother and father, Mary and Gareth; sister Aoife; brothers Aaron, Callum and Oscar; grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, the extended family circle and his many friends.

His funeral will take place on Sunday June 16 at 2 p.m. in the Slavin parish church followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
