Ogden man convicted in stabbing investigation and sent to prison

OGDEN — A homeless man who stabbed another man 17 times in the face and neck is going to prison.

A 2nd District Court judge on Monday sentenced Michael Raymond Acevedo, 31, to one to 15 years in the Utah State Prison. In May, Acevedo pleaded guilty to an amended charge of attempted aggravated assault, a second-degree felony.

In October 2023, Acevedo got into a fight with another man in the area of ​​200 W. 33rd Street in Ogden. He claimed the victim had been following him “and causing problems for the last month.” Michael said he felt he had to stop the threat and admitted to stabbing him in the face. Michael said he “blacked out” after the first time he stabbed the victim. victim and did not remember how many times he stabbed him in total,” according to charging documents.

The victim was then transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
