Man shot, killed following chase

Harrisburg police and a Capitol Officer K9 with a dog were chasing a man on foot from downtown around 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Officials say near the 200 block of S. St., the man fired several shots at officers. The police returned fire, killing the man who shot at them. Neither the Harrisburg officer nor the Capitol Police officer were injured. The K9 was frightened by the gunfire and ran away, but was found a short time later. As the incident involved police officers, the County Sheriff's Office and Prosecutor Chardo will lead the investigation.

HARRISBURG, Pa. —

Harrisburg police and a Capitol Officer K9 with a dog were chasing a man on foot from downtown around 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

Officials say near the 200 block of S. St., the man fired several shots at officers.

The officers returned fire, killing the man who shot at them.

Neither the Harrisburg police officer nor the Capitol police officer were injured. The K9 was frightened by the gunfire and ran away but was found a short time later.
