Oak Mountain State Park drowning victim identified

OAK MOUNTAIN, Ala. (WIAT) — A 47-year-old man who drowned at Oak Mountain State Park has been identified Thursday morning.

Jason Beck, of Wellington, drowned while swimming at the park Wednesday afternoon, according to Shelby County Coroner Lina Evans.

Members of the Pelham Fire Department began searching for Beck after he was reported missing near a dam around 3 p.m. Beck's body was found shortly after 4 p.m.

Evans added that it appears Beck was trying to swim some distance when he began cramping and went underwater.
