NYPD discovers weapons cache during traffic stop in East Elmhurst, Queens

QUEENS, New York (WABC) — A man was arrested in Queens after police stopped him during a traffic stop and discovered a cache of weapons in his vehicle.

Judd Sanson, 29, was stopped at 23rd Avenue and 86th Street in East Elmhurst around 1:30 a.m. after officers saw his black Ford Explorer with a blacked-out license plate.

After searching his vehicle, officers discovered a cache of weapons and items, including: a 9mm handgun, nine loaded magazines, a bulletproof vest, handcuffs, police uniform items New York police, two axes, a stun gun, several knives, a weighted whip and an extendable baton.

Sanson also reportedly had a written message in the vehicle saying he was “sorry” and was going to do something “bad,” but NYPD officials could not provide details on that. topic during an update Wednesday evening.

He is charged with criminal possession of a weapon and ammunition and a license plate violation.

Sanson is believed to have been living in his vehicle and police suspect he was using drugs.

Why he had all the contraband in his possession is under investigation.
