NPSO recovers stolen horse trailer, seizes narcotics and weapons | News

NATCHITOCHES, La. – A recent tip from Texas sources that a stolen horse trailer may be in the Natchitoches area led to the arrest of two Natchitoches men, the recovery of the trailer and the seizure of narcotics illegal and a weapon.

In early June, Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's detectives received a tip from undisclosed Texas sources and images of a 2021 Sundown horse trailer worth approximately $45,000.00 located in the area of Natchitoches.

The trailer was located near Dallas and had been reported stolen to the Lancaster, Texas, police department.

Detectives also learned that the horse trailer was believed to have been pulled by a dark-colored GMC double pickup truck.

Detectives then drove around the Natchitoches area for a few days looking for the truck and trailer.

On Tuesday afternoon, June 4, NPSO detectives observed the stolen truck and trailer parked at a business on Texas Street in Natchitoches.

Detectives set up surveillance in the area to identify the vehicle occupants in possession of the trailer.

After that, detectives stopped the vehicle as it prepared to leave the business.

Two occupants of the vehicle, Onterio D. Pier, 31, and Charles L. Brown, 33, of Natchitoches, were arrested.

Detectives say upon making contact with Pier and Brown, they smelled a strong odor of marijuana.

Additional deputies responded to assist at the scene.

Officers from the Natchitoches Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force were contacted and also responded to assist in the investigation.

Officers obtained a search warrant signed by a 10th Judicial District Court judge to search the vehicle and trailer for illegal items.

During a search of the vehicle, officers discovered and seized more than 1,000 MDMA ecstasy pills, 4 grams of suspected cocaine, more than 100 fentanyl pills, 1 gram of suspected marijuana and a semi-automatic handgun Glock 43s allegedly stolen during a vehicle burglary near Natchitoches. Last year.

Seized evidence will be submitted to the Northwest Louisiana Crime Lab for analysis and drug identification.

MPs and Task Force agents arrested:

(1). Onterio D. Pier, 31, of Natchitoches transported and booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center charged with Unlawful Possession of Stolen Things Valued Over $25,000.00, Possession of MDMA Ecstasy CDS Schedule 1 with intent to distribute, possession of CDS Schedule II fentanyl with intent to distribute, possession of CDS Schedule 1 marijuana, possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a felony, unlawful possession of a firearm in the presence of controlled dangerous substances and unlawful possession of a stolen firearm.

(2). Charles L. Brown, 33, of Natchitoches, was transported and booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center, charged with Unlawful Possession of Stolen Items Valued Over 25,000.00.

Deputies say the horse trailer confirmed stolen by the Lancaster, Texas Police Department was seized at an undisclosed location.

The owner will make the necessary arrangements to take possession of the trailer.

Sheriff Stuart Wright commended deputies for a job well done in recovering stolen property and removing dangerous drugs from the streets believed to be destined for distribution in Natchitoches and surrounding areas. The dangerous narcotic fentanyl is at least 100 times more potent than morphine and several times that of heroin, which can cause death.
