Novato police charge suspect with setting fire near store

Novato police have arrested a suspect who allegedly started a fire in the Hamilton area. No injuries or damage to the structure were reported.

The fire was reported around 8:45 p.m. Monday near the Safeway store on Nave Drive. Police found the fire burning east of the business and noticed a suspicious person leaving the area, Novato Police Sgt. » said Alan Bates. Police arrested the man and determined he was the one who started the fire.

Aroni Ahsiu, 41, of Novato, was booked into the Marin County Jail, where his bond was set at $3,000.
