YORK COUNTY – The family of Zachary Patterson says he is the father of a fun-loving 1-year-old boy. The 26-year-old has been missing from York County since May 9.

“I talked to him Thursday around 3:30 p.m., and that was the last time I talked to him,” said his mother, Nicole Showers.

Patterson's mother says one of Zach's friends came to her house at 9 p.m. that evening to pick Zach up, but he wasn't there.

“I felt really uncomfortable,” she told WCCB’s Emma Mondo. “Friday morning I knew something was wrong, and then I reported him missing Saturday morning.”

She tells me she first reported Patterson missing to Rock Hill police. The case was taken over by the York County Sheriff's Office shortly after they were able to determine where he was last seen.

Mondo asked Trent Faris of the York County Sheriff's Office if he thought foul play could be a factor.

“None of the information we have at this time leads us to believe anything like this happened, but we do have information about where he was last seen.”

Patterson's mother tells Mondo that she did her own detective work to find out where Zachary's friends last saw him.

“They had dropped him off near the Lesslie Fire Department, and that's where pretty much this whole investigation is, all these five weeks have always led us to the same place,” she said.

Patterson's family hopes their research efforts lead to answers sooner rather than later.

“Zach touched a lot of people's lives, a lot of people cared about him, and we just need to keep his name alive until we find him and bring him home.”
