Norwegian company takes nautical technology to new depths: weapon of the week

[RYAN ROBERTSON]

Now it's time for our weapon of the week and we're sticking with the nautical theme. IF YOU OPENED A BOOK IN COLLEGE, YOU PROBABLY KNOW THAT 71% OF THE EARTH IS COVERED BY WATER. What you may not know is that we have only explored about 5% of these waters. This is where Blueye Robotics comes in.

THIS IS THE X3 ROV, OR REMOTELY OPERATED VEHICLE. ON THE MARKET SINCE 2021, THE X-3 HAS A PROVEN HISTORY.

IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN HIM BEFORE, YOU HAVE PROBABLY SEEN THE RESULTS OF HIS ABILITIES. IIn 2022, the NORD STREAM 1 and 2 gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea exploded. At 260 feet below the surface, it was too deep for divers to inspect the damage, but not the X-3, which was used to closely examine the damage done.

We believe it is the responsibility of those of us with access to the sea to provide this information to the world. So once we got permission to go into that space, we provided that video and that information to the world so they could make their own decision about what happened.

NOT ONLY CAN THIS ROV PROVIDE AMAZING IMAGES, BUT IT’S ALSO DESIGNED TO BE USER-FRIENDLY. THE CONTROLLER OFFERS A LARGE SCREEN WITH EASY-TO-USE FEATURES. IF YOU HAVE PLAYED PORTABLE VIDEO GAMES, YOU CAN USE THE X3.

[James Nixon, International Sales Manager, BlueEye Robotics]

We believe that if it's simple and reliable, you will use it. And our ultimate goal is to enable people to do the work they normally would, but more safely and/or more efficiently.

CAPABLE OF REACHING DEPTHS OF 1,000 FEET, THE X3 CAN BE EQUIPPED WITH A RANGE OF TOOLS. FROM LIGHTS TO SONAR TO CLAMP, just to name a few.

[James Nixon, International Sales Manager, BlueEye Robotics]

“The future for us lies in integrating more and better accessories and sensors into this platform. So we integrated clamps and sonars, as well as cathode potential measurement tools and metal thickness tools. The future for us is to develop and integrate more tools into this device. And then as our technology roadmap grows, maybe we could change the form factor to make it a little more capable in different scenarios. »

BASED IN TRONDHEIM, NORWAY, BLUEYE IS ALREADY MAKING A BIG SPLASH, INTENTIONAL PUN, WITH USERS ALL OVER THE WORLD. WITH 1,100 UNITS OPERATING IN 60 COUNTRIES, THEY HAVE NOW AIMED TO PUT THEIR TOOLS IN THE HANDS OF THE US MILITARY.

[James Nixon, International Sales Manager, BlueEye Robotics]

“Norway is a relatively small country with five and a half million inhabitants. But the technology they produce punches well above its weight class. So, for us, bringing the best of breed to the U.S. military is our mission: to bring a highly portable, high-performance robot to the men and women who need it most. »

ONE THING THAT PROBABLY MAKES IT AN ATTRACTIVE OPTION TO POTENTIAL BUYERS IS THE PRICE. WITH BASIC MODELS STARTING AT JUST UNDER 22K, IT'S A RELATIVELY LOW COST OPTION FOR OPERATORS NEEDING TO KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE WATERS AROUND THEM.
