A man who was recently charged with public indecency in Norwalk was sentenced to 15 years in prison for sexually assaulting two teenagers in Rye, New York, according to the Westchester County District Attorney's Office.

Richard Olmino, 22, pleaded guilty in April to first-degree criminal sexual act and first-degree sexual abuse. After his prison sentence, Olmino will be on supervised release for 20 years and must register as a sex offender, the district attorney's office announced Monday.

Connecticut court records show Olmino has two cases pending in state Superior Court in Stamford. Norwalk police charged him with public indecency in October 2021, and he faces second-degree failure to appear in the case related to an incident in March 2022. Olmino, of Port Chester, also has a pending criminal case in Suffolk County and has been in custody at the Westchester County Jail since his arrest on June 24, 2023, according to Westchester County Prosecutor Miriam E. Rocah.

Rocah said the sentence stemmed from two incidents that occurred in June 2023.

On June 23, 2023, around midnight, Olmino asked a 16-year-old girl for help who was jogging in Rye Town Park. Rocah said Olmino took the teen's phone and threw her to the ground as she tried to run away.

Olmino told the teen he had a knife before exposing himself and sexually assaulting him, according to Rocah. A park security guard broke up the attack and Olmino fled, Rocah said. Police recovered Olmino's cellphone at the scene.

DNA evidence from the incident linked Olmino to a separate incident that occurred on June 3, 2023. At around 1:36 a.m., Olmino approached an 18-year-old girl who was walking home from an afterparty. prom near Rye High School, Rocah said. .

The incident followed a similar pattern: Olmino asked the girl for help, then took her cellphone and threatened her before sexually assaulting her, according to Rocah.
