Northwest Kansas kidnapping suspects still at large

DECATUR COUNTY — Law enforcement along the northwest Kansas-southwest Nebraska border continues to actively assist authorities in Decatur County, Oberlin, Kansas, with of an ongoing investigation into a kidnapping and hostage holding in Oberlin, according to Decatur County Sheriff David Wachendorfer. As of Monday morning, the sheriff's office reported no new developments in the search.

On Saturday, Decatur County Dispatch in Oberlin received a report from a man that he had been kidnapped and had just escaped from his captors.

Law enforcement officers from the Decatur County Sheriff's Office and the Oberlin Police Department, along with members of the Decatur County EMS and Emergency Management, responded to places.

The victim has been located and the incident appears to be valid, according to Wachendorfer. The kidnapping took place in another jurisdiction and the victim was able to escape casually. The sheriff is asking for the public's help in locating an older model blue or green minivan with Oklahoma license plates.

The vehicle is occupied by a white man, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, bald, with a long brown beard and tattoos on his chest.

The second subject is a black male, 5 feet 10 inches tall, chubby, with a mustache, goatee and facial tattoos. The suspects should be considered armed and dangerous. Don't approach them.
