North Carolina deputies arrest teen in car theft investigation

The Randolph County Sheriff's Office arrested a 17-year-old suspect during a car theft investigation. In December 2023, deputies responded to a business alarm on Auction Road in High Point. Deputies said “numerous vehicles” were stolen there. The suspects were juveniles from the Charlotte area. Another vehicle was found in Charlotte a few days later. Law enforcement then charged a 17-year-old from Charlotte with criminal possession of a stolen motor vehicle. An arrest warrant was issued against him. Nearly six months later, on June 1, 2024, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police arrested him. He was given a $50,000 secured bond with a first appearance scheduled for June 24, 2024 in Randolph County District Court. Police also identified the suspect as being behind several other cases. He is accused of numerous crimes and misdemeanors. He was served with these additional warrants and given an additional $650,000 secured bond. Investigators also identified two other minors and filed motions against them.
