Norfolk man arrested for child sexual assault

MADISON COUNTY, Neb. (KCAU) — A Norfolk man is in prison for child sexual abuse.

The Norfolk Division of Police responded April 24 to a report of a possible sexual assault of a child, according to court documents. Police had contact with a mother who said her three-year-old daughter said Roosevelt Jeffries, 41, did “nasty things” to her and said he touched her inappropriately while he kept it.

Court documents state an investigation was conducted on May 6 during which the girl was interviewed at the Northeast Nebraska Child Advocacy Center. During the interview, the girl said Jeffries touched her inappropriately. She also said he allegedly made the girl's brother touch her inappropriately while touching him.

Authorities questioned Roosevelt at the Norfolk police station on May 16. During the interview, Jeffries allegedly admitted to touching the girl inappropriately. He denied doing anything of a sexual nature to his older brother.

On May 20, the Norfolk Police Department arrested Jeffries on a warrant. He is charged with a Class 1B felony of first-degree sexual assault of a child and a Class 3A felony of third-degree sexual assault of a child. He was booked into the Madison County Jail on $250,000 bail.

Jeffries is scheduled to be arraigned on May 28.
