A defendant wanted in connection with a non-fatal shooting was given an August trial date before Judge Melissa Copeland in Baltimore City Circuit Court on May 24.

Sean Cherry, 20, is charged with 29 counts, including attempted first and second degree murder, first and second degree assault, reckless endangerment, discharge of firearm, possession of firearm by a convicted felon, among other charges for a non-fatal shooting on September 16, 2023. Cherry was arrested in January for the offense.

At Friday's hearing, Cherry was offered a plea deal, sentencing him to 60 years in prison, all but 45 years in prison, including five years of parole, and to register as an armed offender. He pleaded guilty to several charges, including attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault and reckless endangerment. Cherry rejected the offer.

Judge Copeland set a three-day trial date of Aug. 26 before Judge Lynn Stewart Mays of Baltimore City Circuit Court.
