No suspects arrested after hours for sheriff's office in Colbert | Spokane News

COLBERT, Wash. — No suspects have been arrested after Spokane County Sheriff's Office deputies spent a few hours Wednesday evening searching for one.

According to a sheriff's office spokesperson, deputies responded to a call of an argument. When they arrived, a man involved in the argument fled. He had warrants for his arrest on other charges, but none for Wednesday night's events.

Officers used drones and K9s to search for the man and asked neighbors in the area to stay indoors. In addition to the loudspeaker instructions, some neighbors reported receiving alerts on their phones.

Some neighbors also said they were not informed when police activity had ended, making it unclear whether or not they could leave their homes.

“I think it wouldn't be good in these situations if they made a statement, so everyone doesn't feel weird going to bed at night,” said one woman who asked to remain anonymous. “Because that was what was online, it was like we had to lock our doors, check our properties and they never really said anything.”

The sheriff's office spokesperson said the warrants for the suspect's arrest came from out of county and were for non-violent crimes like theft.
