No one injured after reports of possible shooting near Walt Disney Concert Hall, LAPD says

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Authorities say there were no injuries and four people were arrested following a fight and reports of a shooting near the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Downtown from Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles County Office of Education and the county Probation Department held a graduation ceremony Thursday afternoon honoring graduates from juvenile court and alternative schools.

A fight occurred inside the concert hall when someone in the audience jumped over a second-story balcony and assaulted a graduate at the end of the ceremony, according to the probation department.

“All juvenile inmates on probation had already left the auditorium and were placed in a secure holding area before the incident occurred,” a statement from the probation department said. “The Probation Enforcement Special Operations Unit quickly responded, containing the incident and restoring order inside the auditorium.”

A fight involving several people then broke out outside, forcing nearby streets to be closed. Four people were arrested.

Police say there were no injuries and two people are in custody following reports of a shooting near the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles.

Initial reports indicated there may have been a shooting, and a number of witnesses told Eyewitness News they heard gunshots around 5 p.m.

No further details about the investigation were given, but police say they found shell casings at the scene.

The area of ​​Grand and Hope streets between 1st and 2nd streets was closed as part of an “active investigation,” according to the LAPD Central Division.

“No injuries have been reported at this time,” the division said on X shortly before 7:30 p.m.

Video from AIR7 showed several police cars parked outside the building. Officers focused their attention on the area of ​​Grand and 2nd as they searched the area.
