Nicki Minaj released after being arrested for alleged drug possession

Rapper Nicki Minaj was released by Amsterdam police after being arrested for alleged drug possession. Minaj previously documented an intense exchange with authorities, who directly told her she was going to be arrested after weed was found in her possession.

However, Minaj claimed that the weed “pre-rolls” did not belong to her but to members of her security team. The rapper's shocking arrest led to calls for her freedom on social media, with her fan base, the Barbz, leading to #FreeNicki on X.

According to reports, the rapper was released by police after being arrested for alleged possession of soft drugs.

In a message shared on X (formerly Twitter), Dutch police said she had been fined and given the opportunity to “continue her journey.”

Minaj was on her way to Manchester for her “Pink Friday 2 World Tour” when she was stopped by police on her way from Amsterdam.

Speaking to Instagram Live and several posts on X, Minaj revealed that authorities in Amsterdam attempted to arrest her for alleged drug possession.

In the live video, an official is heard declaring his intention to arrest the “Pink Friday” singer for allegedly “transporting drugs,” which she vehemently denied.

She continued, “Keep in mind they took my luggage without my consent. My security already told them these pre-rolls belong to him. Oh, and the pilot wants me to delete my Instagram post.”

In another update, the rapper revealed that police told her she had to “go to 5 minutes to make a statement regarding my safety at the police station.”

“I'm not going in there. I need a lawyer,” Minaj emphasized. However, despite her protests, the 41-year-old eventually entered a police vehicle, as seen in the video she posted online.

Minaj later expressed concern about her upcoming performance, but an officer reassured her that efforts would be made to “get her there” as soon as possible.

On Instagram, Minaj captioned her live video: “They tried to stop me from coming to every show. They took my bags before I could see them. Put them on the plane. Now they say they're waiting at customs. This is what it looks like when (people) get paid a lot of money to try to sabotage a tour after everything has failed.”

Fans were enraged by the rapper's arrest

On X, Minaj fans began protesting the arrest with the trend #FreeNicki. Barbz, as the rapper's fans are affectionately known, also shared videos of large crowds awaiting Minaj's arrival in Manchester, hoping she would be released in time for her concert.

One person wrote: “Nicki better sue the whole country when she goes out and smokes the blut she was arrested for.”

Another person said: “She does all this for us. She doesn't have to go on tour, but she loves her fans too much. After this situation, I realized that we had to try harder for her. We don't deserve it. #FreeNicki.”

This is Nicki's 4th world tour. She is not new to touring, traveling abroad, complying with international laws and customs for private flights. When she says things aren't right and she knows why, believe her. #FreeNicki,” a third fan noted.

The rapper had harsh words for her former team, who she said were doing everything they could to jeopardize her tour.

She accused them of deliberately hindering her travel plans, writing: “They try to make me book another plane every time. All this (because) I fired (management) who I overdrafted for years, added $30-50,000 to my plane and pocketed.” I recently fired a tour manager who was doing the same thing and he was mad he got the kick. Their goal is to make me late and pocket $40,000.

Minaj added in another tweet, “This is trying to make me late so they can write negative stories. Jealousy is a disease. You know the rest.”
