Niagara Falls man to be charged with DWI for alleged rollover and entrapment crash

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Niagara Falls man will face a drunken driving charge and additional charges for an alleged two-vehicle entrapment rollover crash that occurred Sunday afternoon, the office announced from the Mayor of Niagara Falls.

Sunday, around 2:08 p.m., a 45-year-old man was driving northeast on Highland Avenue in a Jeep when he allegedly ran a stop sign and struck a Hyundai. The Hyundai had the right of way and was heading southeast on Hyde Park Boulevard, officials said.

The Hyundai allegedly hit the curb and overturned, trapping a 55-year-old female driver, the mayor's office said.

Motorists witnessed the accident and stopped to call for help. Authorities said the Niagara Falls Fire Department responded and freed the woman from her vehicle.

She was taken to ECMC for treatment of eye and head injuries and is in serious but stable condition.

The driver of the Jeep was taken to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, where he was evaluated and released.

He will face a drunken driving charge and additional charges as the investigation continues, the mayor's office said.
