NHL: Reid Boucher convicted in sexual assault case involving 12-year-old

Former NHL player Reid Boucher, who sexually assaulted a 12-year-old while he was a 17-year-old member of the U.S. national team development program, was sentenced Monday behind closed doors .

Boucher will serve four years of probation and one year of suspended prison time provided he completes the probation period without incident, his attorney, Pamella Szydlak, confirmed to Darcie Moran of the Detroit Free Press. In December 2021, he pleaded guilty to third-degree criminal sexual assault of a minor, an offense punishable by up to 15 years in prison.

Because Boucher was 17 at the time of the assault, Washtenaw County Circuit Judge Patrick Conlin agreed to sentence him under the juvenile probationary designation.

“I'm so happy that even though it wasn't the outcome I was hoping for, that it ultimately worked, to some extent,” the victim, now 23, said in a statement. Monday.

Shortly after Boucher's name was erased from the Ontario Hockey League's Sarnia Sting team record books in January, two other women came forward to The Athletic's Katie Strang, alleging that Boucher had attempted to solicit sexually explicit photos from them on Facebook when he was 21 years old. and they were 15 and 17 years old respectively.

As of this filing, no civil or criminal charges have been filed against Boucher regarding the allegations made against him by the two women.
