NGO curbs human trafficking in Edo, empowers returnees – The Sun Nigeria

A non-governmental organization, Emmanuel World Children Foundation (EWCF), and its partner Free the Slave, with funding from the United States in its effort to stem the tide of human trafficking, have provided more than 100 returnees with starting equipments in Edo State.

Speaking at the event, tagged “Survivors Network Meeting” in Benin, the Executive Director, Mr. Emmanuel Adaramola, said survivors of human trafficking have experienced a lot in their lives and It was necessary to put a smile on their faces. through empowerment.

He said that when they have power, the will to embark on such a precarious journey will naturally die down and they will no longer be able to be manipulated by any trafficker.

Adaramola said with the start-up equipment, beneficiaries can now stay in the country.

Adaramola, who spoke passionately about the organization's mission to support and empower survivors and the foundation's other activities over the past 27 years, said: “Today is not just a meeting, but it is a celebration of your strength, an acknowledgment of your courage. , and a step towards a better future for each of you.

Also speaking, Mr. Nduka Nwanwenne, Zonal Commander of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), represented by Mr. Stephen Selowo, Head of the Counseling and Rehabilitation Unit, said : “The Emmanuel World Children Foundation does not have regular means of income but depends on the donor. All the equipment you see here today should be valued and used well.

He added: “You have invested in others, also invest in others so that we can end human trafficking and child labor.

“We appreciate all the partners who contributed. Congratulations to all the beneficiaries, I am sure your families will be proud of you today,” he added.

Also speaking, the state Commissioner for Social Development and Gender Affairs, Christabel Omoh-Ekwu, represented by Mrs. Osawe Precious, said government appreciated non-governmental organizations like the Emmanuel World Children Foundation for their work well done and the empowerment of survivors of human disasters. traffic in Edo State.
