Newport man arrested after alleged home invasion, police say

A Newport man is facing several charges, including two counts of burglary, after an alleged home invasion Thursday. Newport police say they received two calls for a break-in at a residence on Chestnut Road. Officers found Adam Hooper, 41, in the driveway of the home, where he was covered in blood after allegedly breaking a glass door. Police say Hooper appeared to be under the influence of what is suspected to be bath salts. Police add that Hooper was armed with a knife and was arrested without incident. Hooper was then transported to Valley Regional Hospital and is being held without bond. The investigation into the burglary is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Newport police.
