Newburgh stabbed, military mortar shell discovered, ex-employee charged with theft

Police are searching for a suspect in a stabbing that happened Wednesday morning near Grand Street. The victim, whose identity has not been released, is in critical condition. Police responded to the scene and found the injured victim. No further details about the circumstances surrounding the stabbing have been released. A military mortar round was discovered Wednesday while a resident was clearing property in Philipstown, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said. The police quickly responded to the scene and removed the shell. Authorities believe the shell dates back to the 1950s and had been present in the area for some time.

A man was arrested after allegedly stealing copper from his former employer, Richie Brothers Heating and Air Conditioning in New Rochelle. The business owner allegedly saw the suspect on a security camera stealing copper. Police arrived on scene and arrested the man, who has not been identified. Police say the suspect also admitted to committing other burglaries at the store.
