Newark: Eight boys arrested on suspicion of raping teenage girl on Nottinghamshire playground | UK News

Four other boys – including one aged 12 – have been arrested on suspicion of raping a teenage girl in Nottinghamshire.

Police received reports that a teenage girl had been attacked in the early evening of May 25 at Yorke Drive playgrounds in Newark.

Four boys – aged 12, 13 and two aged 14 – were all arrested on suspicion of rape, Nottinghamshire » said the police.

They have since been released on bail and subject to strict conditions.

Four other boys – two aged 15 and two aged 16 – were arrested earlier this week on suspicion of rape.

All four remain free on bail, police said.

Several people have been assisting police with their inquiries and “the investigation continues to progress at pace”, Detective Inspector Amy Revill said.

She added: “I would like to appeal again to the local community and anyone who may have information to contact us.

“We have made four more arrests in this case.”

The young girl and her family are taken care of by specially trained agents.

Inspector Charlotte Ellam, Newark District Commander, said: “I understand the concerns this incident has caused in our community.

“But I want to make it clear that the team of detectives investigating this incident are working around the clock and we will find out exactly what happened.

“We have carried out additional patrols in the area and this will continue.”
