New York Jets urged to add record-breaking offensive weapon

The New York Jets are coming off another disappointing season in 2023. They finished the season with just seven wins and missed the playoffs. Head coach Robert Saleh's team suffered numerous injuries and several key players missed games.

Jets starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles tendon early in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills. The Jets still came away with the win, but many fans felt it was a loss, given that the starting quarterback suffered a season-ending injury.

With all the hype that Jets fans had about Rodgers at the beginning of last season coming to a head, the hype has carried over to this season. It's hard to disagree with the optimistic Jets fans about what next season could be like if Aaron Rodgers can return to his MVP form and the defense continues to dominate on that side of the ball.

The New York Jets defense was among the top three in the NFL in yards allowed, behind only the Chiefs and Browns. According to PFF, the Jets were the league's top-rated defense last season and the second-highest in 2022, the season before. It's safe to say the Jets have an impressive defense, and this team could be a contender if the offense can get going.

Last season, after Rodgers' injury, the Jets' offense stagnated and struggled to score points. With former second-round pick Zach Wilson as the backup quarterback, the Jets' offense lacked the ability to attack deep. Wilson was replaced at times by veterans Trevor Siemian and Tim Boyle. Neither Siemian nor Boyle fared any better.

The Jets' offense is loaded with talented weapons for Rodgers, with Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall both showing promise. Garrett Wilson, the 2022 NFL Rookie of the Year, is coming off back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons. Wilson has yet to have a consistent quarterback to throw the ball to him and could take another leap forward next season with a healthy Aaron Rodgers.

Breece Hall is coming off a fantastic season in which he totaled nearly 1,600 scrimmage yards and catapulted himself into the role of full-time starting running back. In 2022, Hall's rookie season, he tore his ACL in a midseason game. With a Grade 3 tear, Hall missed the remaining games of the season and was on a snap count entering this season. If Hall can stay healthy, he's primed for a massive season in 2024.

New York Jets Could Sign Michael Thomas

The New York Jets have talented arms, but could benefit from adding a dynamic receiver. According to Professional Football NetworkThe Jets are expected to add veteran receiver Michael Thomas.

“Michael Thomas still hasn't signed,” Professional Football Network wrote. “While he may not be the 149-catch threat he once was in 2019, he can still provide a boost to a needy WR room.”

Michael Thomas has spent his entire career with the New Orleans Saints, but he was released earlier this offseason. In 2019, Micheal Thomas led the league in receptions with 149 and receiving yards with 1,725. Thomas is primarily a slot receiver, and Aaron Rodgers could benefit from having him as a weapon.
