New York Jets cornerback Tae Hayes was arrested in Alabama early Sunday morning for marijuana possession.

According to the Morgan County Sheriff's Office, via the New York Post, Hayes was booked into jail and later released after posting $300 bond.

The Jets reportedly said in a statement: “We are aware of the situation and will not make any further comment as this is an ongoing legal matter.”

Hayes made just one appearance for New York during the 2023 season after being signed to the team's practice squad in October.

Hayes was reportedly jailed, then released after posting $300 bail.

The 26-year-old has already spent time with nine different NFL teams since leaving Appalachian State College undrafted in 2019. His most recent tenures came with the Baltimore Ravens and Lions from Detroit.

He also won a USFL championship in 2022 with the Birmingham Stallions.

Hayes has made 14 appearances in the NFL since ending his college career, but has yet to start.

The Jets are scheduled to report to preseason training camp on July 23 ahead of the 2024 season.

Last season, they had a miserable season after big-name quarterback Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles tendon in just four snaps in his debut against the Buffalo Bills. Robert Saleh's men failed to qualify for the playoffs without Rodgers at their disposal.
