New Mexico fire crews help fight wildfires near Ruidoso

First responders are working around the clock to fight the South Fork and Salt fires.

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – First responders are working around the clock to fight the South Fork and Salt fires. Several departments across the state are also heading south to help their fellow firefighters.

According to their social media, the Albuquerque Fire Department sent firefighters recruited through the New Mexico Forest State Resource Mobilization Plan. This is essentially a list of wildfire resources that can be mobilized at any time to help fight wildfires.

They also sent a Type 3 brush truck assigned to the Salt Fire for structural protection and a fire truck to the South Fork Fire.

The video shows Dexter Fire Rescue working alongside Clovis firefighters. Their crew worked all day Tuesday and into the night to help put out the fire.

The Mescalero Apache Tribe also took these photos of the Salt Fire, the smaller of two fires burning near Ruidoso.

KOB 4 also checked in with the Bernalillo County Fire Department. They haven't sent any personnel yet because there have been numerous brush fires in Albuquerque.

A spokesperson told us they might send people in the coming days.
