New Jersey man charged with fatally stabbing landlord

A Mays Landing man has been charged with stabbing his landlord to death, authorities said.

Michael Carney, 39, was arrested Wednesday and charged with murder and weapons-related offenses, the Atlantic County District Attorney's Office said in a news release.

Multiple 911 callers reported that someone had been stabbed at 798 Park Road shortly before 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Officers arrived and found the homeowner, Solomon Lonner, 49, of Lakewood, inside the home suffering from multiple stab wounds, authorities said.

Carney was arrested at the scene after police identified him as the suspect in the stabbing.

Lonner was later pronounced dead at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, authorities said. An autopsy is pending.
