New Albany man, 24, killed in crash

The man who was killed in a crash in Floyd County, Indiana, on Sunday has been identified. New Albany police said Gavin Byrd, 24, of New Albany, died at the scene of a crash in the 3700 block of Klerner Lane. they reported a serious accident just before 8 p.m. When crews arrived on scene, they found a blue SUV upside down.>>Read more top stories here Officers said Byrd, who was the only person in the vehicle, died in the accident. According to police, after an investigation, they determined that the vehicle was heading north when it left the road and struck mailboxes and vegetation. Police say excessive speed was likely a factor in the crash, but the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
