Neighbors join search for missing 8-month-old in Ohio County

REYNOLDS STATION, Ky. (WEHT) — In Ohio County, the second day of the search for eight-month-old Miya Tucker continues. Miya Tucker was discovered missing following a welfare check at a house on Deanfield Church Road. His parents face several charges, including drug possession and abandonment of a minor.

Community members say they are joining in the search for neighborhoods.

Shane Heminway says the news of eight-month-old Miya Tucker's disappearance is heartbreaking. The neighbor takes action with the help of a friend.

“I told them I was coming to help them out, maybe going through the garden, you know, in the woods or something, just to see if I had any help,” Heminway says.

KSP says baby Miya has brown hair and green eyes. Police said that during the welfare check, they found drugs inside the Reynolds Station home, but no baby.

Miya's parents, Cage C. Rudd and Tesla Tucker, were arrested at a Super 8 motel in Owensboro on charges of child abandonment and drug possession. Police said Miya was also not found inside the motel.

“It's a shame, especially here, because everyone is nice [in this neighborhood] except for these people,” Heminway said. He says he's referring to Rudd and Tucker.

Neighbors say they didn't know a baby lived at that address.

Heminway says the two men raced their car through the cemetery and spun on gravel roads even when they were kindly asked to stop.

“We've had nothing but problems with them. My friend tried to get a car made…put tires on. They stole their rotors and all kinds of stuff from the car,” says Heminway.

Still, Heminway says he's willing to put that aside to help their child.

“Actually, I'm a little nervous if we find her.” I really hope to find her alive, but maybe someone will, Heminway said.

A third person who lived in the home, Ricky Smith, 56, was also arrested in connection with the case. He faces drug and gun charges, as well as child abuse.
