Neighborhood responds to Braintree stabbing suspect residing in Agawam

AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) – A suspect involved in last weekend's stabbing in Braintree has ties to the town of Agawam.

22News spoke with residents in the neighborhood who said they were shocked at how close it is to their homes.

“I walk around this neighborhood almost every night…and you just don't know who is in your neighborhood or who might be living so close with bad intentions,” Sarah Lamb said.

Agawam residents say they are shaken after learning that one of their neighbors is suspected of a stabbing in Massachusetts and Connecticut. That suspect was identified as 26-year-old Jared Ravizza. Court documents show Ravizza has home addresses in Chilmark, West Tisbury and Lakeview Circle in Agawam.

Residents of that street didn't want to speak on camera, but they told 22News that as far as they know, Ravizza's family still lives here. And the interactions they've had with him in the past have been uncomfortable.

Ravizza was arrested in Sandwich over the weekend after allegedly stabbing several young girls at a Braintree movie theater and then stabbing two employees at a McDonald's in Plymouth. He led police on a car chase before being arrested.

Ravizza has also been linked to a homicide in Deep River, Conn., of the victim, Bruce Feldman, 70, of West Hartford.

“We love taking our two little boys to the movies, so when we heard about what happened in Braintree, we were appalled, so it's crazy that it's so close to home,” Lamb continued .

Ravizza was arraigned in Massachusetts and the judge ordered a mental health evaluation. Charges against Ravizza in connection with the Connecticut homicide remain pending. It is not yet known if Ravizza had any criminal history in our area.

22News has contacted the Hampden County Clerk's Office for court documents and we will have their response as soon as it is available.
