near records this weekend, rain returns next week

The “heat dome” is in full effect across the region, which will push temperatures into the mid to upper 90s over the weekend. Enjoy the dry conditions while they last, as we are going to enter an unsettled weather situation next week.

Tonight and tomorrow: Any clouds we had today will quickly start to fade as we head into the night. Expect clear skies with lows near 71 degrees in the morning. Tomorrow it will be hot, even very hot. Generally clear skies and drier air will allow temperatures to approach 98 degrees. It will reach a record high if we reach this temperature. Humidity will also be a factor, driving feels like temperatures near 105 degrees.

Following: Sunday will be very similar to Saturday, with highs near the mid 90s, instead of the upper 90s. The trend will change again next week as the “heat dome” begins to break. This will lower temperatures and open the door to the daily chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some days will likely be wetter than others, but the exact timing of the greatest rain coverage is somewhat unclear at this time. As usual, this will become more accurate in the coming days, so check back often for more information.

The Tropics: For the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean, all is calm. No tropical developments are expected over the next seven days.
