NDLEA arrests siblings for drug trafficking; Seizes N4.1 billion worth of cocaine and other narcotics

NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, disclosed in a statement that the arrests followed months of intelligence gathering and were part of a special operation carried out on June 13 and 14, 2024. The raid targeted locations located at 3B, Boundary Avenue, Aba and a residence. along Ohia Road, Ohia, Abia State, resulting in the confiscation of 20.76 kilograms of cocaine and methamphetamine.

Large warehouse of codeine syrup discovered in Lagos
In related news, NDLEA operatives in Lagos State discovered a large warehouse full of codeine syrup. The establishment, located in the Comfort Oboh area of ​​Kirikiri, was raided on June 10, 2024. During the operation, four individuals linked to the importation and distribution of the opioid were arrested.

The suspects, identified as Kingsley Amanambu Obumneke, 38; Emeka Emmanuel, 48 years old; Bornaventure Ugochukwu, 59 years old; and Martin Dike, 56, were arrested and a total of 82,000 bottles of codeine syrup, worth over N600 million, were seized. Additionally, a Toyota Tacuma truck and two buses used to distribute the substance were recovered from the scene.

The NDLEA continues to intensify its efforts to combat drug trafficking and abuse, with these operations underscoring the agency’s commitment to combating the illegal drug trade in Nigeria.
