NC Weather Forecast for Raleigh, Durham, and Fayetteville, North Carolina

First alert night weather forecast: June 15

RALEIGH, North Carolina (WTVD) — A pleasant, warm day will conclude the Father's Day weekend today, with dry weather, partly sunny skies and temperatures in the low 90s in store for most. Anyone heading outdoors today will encounter dew points in the 60s and temperatures near the mid-90s. A large upper-level ridge continues to strengthen this week, keeping much of the east country dry and very hot. While parts of the northeast will experience a powerful heat wave, further south in the Piedmont we will experience temperatures a few degrees above the historical average. Dry and mostly sunny weather will continue over this portion as the ridge controls the weather east of the Mississippi River. Dew points will be in the mid to upper 60s for the first part of the week, but toward the end of the week dew points will begin to rise around 70. With this additional influx of humidity, we may start to see some pop-up thunderstorms occurred during the afternoon and evening.

It will still be warm towards the end of the week with high elevations, but we will start to see the ridge break down as we approach the weekend. This suggests a few thunderstorms reach the area, but the ridge could continue to block the area from any major precipitation.

Have a nice day!
