Navy fully cooperates with law enforcement, she says

Mumbai, Jun 29 (PTI) After the arrest of a Lieutenant Commander rank officer by the Mumbai crime branch for alleged involvement in human trafficking to South Korea on the basis of fake documents, the Indian Navy said on Saturday that it would fully cooperate with law enforcement.

The Navy remains committed to holding its personnel to the highest standards of conduct at all times, a defense spokesperson said.

Lieutenant Commander Vipin Kumar Dagar (28) was arrested from Colaba in south Mumbai on Thursday for allegedly being part of a gang that sent people to South Korea with fake documents for money .

According to police, Dagar's associates had confessed to sending 8-10 people to the East Asian country in this manner and had charged Rs 10 lakh per case.

In a statement, the defence spokesperson said, “A complaint of misconduct by an officer was received by the Navy from the Consulate of the Republic of Korea (RoK) in Mumbai. Upon investigation by the Navy, it was found that the matter had possible links with a visa fraud racket gang.” “Accordingly, the Indian Navy informed the Civil Police of its concerns and the information possessed, who launched a detailed investigation. The Navy is fully cooperating with law enforcement agencies and remains committed to holding its personnel to maintain the highest standards of conduct at all times,” the spokesperson added.

Police said Dagar, who is a resident of Haryana and the son of an Air Force personnel, has been remanded in judicial custody till July 5. PTI VT BNM
