Nashville, Tennessee police have arrested a teenager accused of shooting a security guard

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — An 18-year-old was taken into custody after police say he shot a security guard in a parking lot in the Sobro neighborhood earlier this year.

According to court documents, the incident occurred on May 20 in a parking lot in the Sobro neighborhood, near 2nd Avenue South.


Surveillance cameras captured three individuals entering the parking lot. One of them, identified as Marquise Johnson, 18, was wearing a mask pulled down, revealing her face.

Detectives said they recognized Johnson from previous incidents in the city center.

The security guard reportedly told police he was patrolling the garage when he heard the sound of windows breaking. When he went to investigate, he saw three individuals breaking into cars and yelled at them to stop.

According to the arrest report, that's when Johnson fired several shots at the security guard. The security guard told police he “could hear the bullets flying past him.”

A camera installed in the garage allegedly captured the suspects running and Johnson with a gun in his hand.

Johnson was arrested for the incident on Tuesday, July 2. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and remains jailed on $100,000 bail.
