The family of a young girl who died in a crash which claimed the lives of two other teenagers have paid tribute to her strength and kindness.

Sophie Bates, 17, from Stafford, was a rear passenger in the Ford Ka when the crash happened on Cannock Road in Penkridge, Staffordshire, on Saturday.

She was taken to a hospital in critical condition, police said, but died there Tuesday.

She would be greatly missed and loved forever, her family said.

In a tribute they said: “Our Princess Sophie, the best big sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin and friend to many, was so strong on the outside but truly so generous and caring on the inside.

“Full of pleasure and beyond wit, we were so proud of the young adult that Sophie was becoming, with the life plans she was putting in place: excelling at university and during her internship, full of dynamism and ambition to create your own business.

“Sophie loved her friends and loved enjoying her teenage life and having good times.”

Two teenagers, Dafydd Hûw Craven-Jones, 18, and Morgan Jones, 17, both from Wrexham, also died in the crash.

Their families paid separate tributes earlier this week.

Another 17-year-old girl, hospitalized after being injured in the crash, has since been released.

Police said officers were still eager to speak to people who saw the crash or those with information about the events.
