Mysterious pink and white 'alien' creature identified

A pink and white “alien” shark caught off the coast of Mexico has been identified as a rare albino shark.

The bulbous white creature with white skin that appeared almost sunburned was snagged in the waters of the Cabo Corridor last month in El Tule.

This rare capture was made by Jamie Rendon, captain of the vessel Dr Pescado, who described the shark as having “rough skin, three rows of small teeth and three gill slits on each side of the head.”

“I was really surprised, but what caused the biggest impact were the eyes, so strange,” Rendon told the Pisces Sportfishing Fleet.

It has been speculated that the fish, which would look almost cute if it didn't look so strange, has been identified as a swell shark – a small species that can inflate its body to twice its size when threatened.

Netizens on social media said the fish looked alien before it was identified as an albino shark.

“The mystery of the alien fish solved – after studying the photos, experts agree that the strange fish is an albino shark – still alive and healthy!” »wrote the Poissons sport fishing fleet on Facebook.

“Thank you Jamie for this beautiful story and for freeing this beautiful creature.”

With such a vast and unknown expanse beneath the surface of the ocean, humans are still drawing oddities from the water.

But we know what an oarfish is (even though we'd honestly prefer it didn't exist). Some of these horrifying sea monsters seem to thwart attempts at explanation.

Are these flashbacks from millions of years ago? Are they hellbeasts released from the depths of Hades by angry gods bent on punishing us?

Or are they just misunderstood cuddly creatures who, deep down, just want to be our friends?

Well, they can find their own friends.

If none of these unholy abominations resurface from the darkness of the Mariana Trench for five millennia, it will be five millennia too soon.
