Big Weapon Changes in MW3 Season 4 Patch Notes

Here are the main improvements and nerfs from the recent season update:

Assault rifles

  • BP50: The previously dominant BP50 received a mobility nerf, making it slower across the board. This includes movement, sprint, and tactical sprint speeds.
  • JAK Avenger Kit: This conversion kit for the BP50 has also taken a hit to its movement speed, and is seeing significant damage reduction across all ranges.
  • MCW: The MCW's headshot damage multiplier has been increased.

SMG

  • FJX Horus: This SMG received a huge buff, with reduced knockback, extended damage range, and a smaller increase in chest damage multiplier.

Besides the FJX Horus, several SMGs have seen improvements in maximum and near-average damage range, including the RAM-9, RAM9, Rival-9, GRH-9, Attacker 9, StrikerAnd WSP-9.

Activision also tweaked the No Stock Mod for an even better ADS movement speed increase, while the Lopper LX-D Stock introduced a slight movement speed penalty.

Other Weapon Changes

  • JAK Headhunter Carbine: This conversion kit has undergone a major transformation, with a significant increase in rate of fire, damage, and minimum damage, at the cost of a reduction in neck and upper torso damage multipliers.
  • MCW 6.8: Fixed a recoil issue with the MCW 6.8 and its fully automatic conversion kit.
  • RGL-80 Launcher: This launcher has gained faster aim-down time (ADS), but its explosive damage has been reduced in Hardcore modes.

While it is difficult to predict the meta, these changes are likely to shift the assault rifle meta away from the BP50 and JAK Revenger Kit.

Players can look to other ARs, like the MCW and BAL-27, or adapt their playstyle with these weapons.

On the other hand, upgraded SMGs could see increasing popularity, potentially creating a faster gaming experience.
