Musician Pusu arrested after stabbing teenage girlfriend

A shocking case in the Japanese music world has left a teenage girl hospitalized and a top musician behind bars. TUYU group member Pusu confessed to stabbing his girlfriend on May 31, according to a report from Japan today. Pusu, real name Maya Yano, reportedly called to make a confession that morning, and first responders were able to get to her apartment and save the girl's life.

The victim, whose age was only described as “late teens”, was found lying in a bed with a stab wound to the chest. Police found a kitchen knife covered in blood nearby. The victim was hospitalized and his condition quickly stabilized, according to Japan today.

Pusu reportedly told police he intended to kill his girlfriend and then commit suicide. However, he was unable to carry out the murder-suicide plot and phoned the police. Cops arrested the TUYU guitarist for attempted murder on their way to the apartment, located in Tokyo's Nakano district.

TUYU was effectively disbanded following the incident. The rest of the band stopped all activities, including the planned album release and live performances. They also expressed their shock at the situation and sent their support to the victim.

“It happened so suddenly that I am still confused. We pray for the speedy recovery of the victim,” TUYU pianist Miro wrote in a message, later adding: “There is nothing sadder than to suddenly not be proud of something you've dedicated your life to…it's frustrating.”
