murder charge after man stabbed

A man has been charged with murder after he was accused of forcing his way into a north Queensland unit and stabbing someone multiple times.

Lar Sue, 31, was remanded in custody after his case was presented at the Townsville Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Sue is accused of forcing his way into Kirwan's unit after 4.30pm on Monday before allegedly stabbing a 26-year-old man he knew several times, leaving a “violent scene” behind.

The man was treated by emergency services but died on the spot.

He suffered multiple injuries to his torso, with police seizing an “edge” weapon from the unit.

“It’s certainly a violent scene to walk into,” Acting Detective Inspector Chris Caswell told reporters on Tuesday.

“We seized an item that we suspect is the offending item.”

Police said a woman was in the unit at the time and witnessed the attack.

She was not injured and was not suspicious, Det Insp. said. Caswell.

“She's with detectives today leading the investigation, but as you can imagine, it's obviously a confrontation…that needs to be witnessed,” he said.

Sue was also charged with entering a residence to commit an offense.

A duty solicitor appeared on Sue's behalf when the matter was mentioned in the Townsville Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

The hearing was adjourned for mention of committal on August 2 and Sue was remanded in custody.
