Multiple shots fired, 1 dead in shooting near Kansas City Power & Light

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City police are investigating a triple shooting overnight near the Kansas City Power and Light District that left one person dead.

The shooting happened near Truman Road and Grand Boulevard. Police, detectives and crime scene investigators have been on scene all morning trying to find out what led to the shooting.


Police said when they arrived around 1 a.m. Monday, there was a crowd of people outside businesses near Truman and Grand. Police said this was not unusual.

Man found with gunshot wound outside Prime Bar & Grill; he was taken to hospital and later died.

Two women were found in a parking lot behind the businesses, both with gunshot wounds. Police said their injuries were not life-threatening.

Police have not named any of the victims.

There is no suspicious information at this time, but police have said they consider this to be an isolated incident so the public should not be concerned.

Detectives plan to watch surveillance video and talk to witnesses to figure out how the shooting happened.
