Multiple agencies respond to stabbings; A 31-year-old man arrested | Courts and crime

Authorities arrested a 31-year-old man after several people were stabbed over the weekend at a quinceañera, according to a news release from the Walla Walla County Sheriff's Office.

The man was taken into custody on suspicion of first degree assault, stalking – threatening to kill and brandishing a deadly weapon.

Sheriff's officers identified the man, but a search of online records Tuesday afternoon, June 11, indicated no formal charges had yet been filed against the man. His hometown was not available.

The assault occurred around 10:45 p.m. Saturday, June 8, at the Walla Walla County Fairgrounds, 363 Orchard St. in Walla Walla.

Law enforcement from multiple agencies responded to the quinceañera, which was attended by between 250 and 300 people, according to the press release. Officials said there were reports of a fight with several stabbing victims.

All victims were taken to Providence St. Mary Medical Center in a private vehicle. Their injuries are not life-threatening, officials said.

“Units arrived at multiple encounters with non-compliant subjects, and through a tremendous display of interagency cooperation and mutual aid, they were ultimately able to secure and control the scene,” according to the release.

In addition to the Walla Walla County Sheriff's Office, other agencies that responded include the Walla Walla Police Department, College Place Police Department, Milton-Freewater Police Department, County Sheriff's Office 'Umatilla, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Police and the Washington State Patrol.

As several agencies are involved, the investigation continues.
