'MP should not be attacked but…': Sanjay Raut on Kangana's alleged slapping incident | News from India

MUMBAI: After Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Kangana Ranaut was allegedly slapped by a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) official at Chandigarh airport during a heated argument, Shiv Sena chief (UBT), Sanjay Raut, sympathized with her saying that an MP should not be attacked, but farmers should also be respected.

Ranaut was slapped by a CISF official while she was on her way to Delhi on Thursday. The incident took place during an argument over the farmers' protest, which included the farm laws (now repealed) and other issues. However, the official was suspended later that day.

Speaking to media in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Raut said, “Some people are voting and others are slapping. I don't know what actually happened… If the police officer said that his mother was also sitting, then it is true If his mother was present in the farmers' agitation and anyone said anything against it, then it would create anger. says that there should be a rule of law, so we must not take it into our own hands…”.

“The people who were participating in the farmers' agitation were sons and daughters of India. If someone insults Bharat Mata and someone is offended by it, then that is something to think about. I have sympathy for Kangana She is an MP now should not be attacked but farmers should also be respected,” he added.

Meanwhile, after the incident, Ranaut took to her social media account and asked how to stop the rise of 'extremism' and 'terrorism' in Punjab.

“I am safe. I am perfectly fine. The incident took place during the security check. After completing the security check, a CISF officer waited for me to pass through the booth. Later, she came from the side, hit me on the face and started abusing me,” Ranaut said in a post on 'X'.

“When I asked her why she did this, she told me that she (CISF official) supported the farmers' protest. My (Kangana) question is how to stop the rise of extremism and terrorism in Punjab,” the BJP leader added.

Meanwhile, the CISF officer said his mother was among the farmers who were staging a sit-in protest against the farm laws, which have now been repealed.

“She said that farmers are sitting there for Rs 100. Will she go and sit there? My mother was sitting there protesting when she made this statement…,” she said .

The 15-month-long farmers' protest was against the (now repealed) farm laws, as well as other issues.
