Motorcyclist killed in Lakewood crash Saturday identified – Shaw Local

The motorcyclist killed in a crash Saturday afternoon near Lakewood, on the Woodstock border, was identified Tuesday as Claude Bulava, 67, of Holiday Hills.

Bulava's preliminary cause of death was identified as blunt force trauma, according to McHenry County Coroner Michael Rein. Toxicology results are pending, Rein said.

The Woodstock Fire and Rescue District and the Lakewood Police Department were called to the intersection of Route 176 and Dean Street in Lakewood at 2:25 p.m. Saturday for reports of a collision between a motorcycle and a mini -van, said fire department spokesperson Alex Vucha.

When emergency responders arrived on scene, a bystander was performing CPR on Bulava, Lakewood Police Chief Mike Roth said. Bulava was taken to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in Woodstock, where he was later pronounced dead, Roth said.

A second person on the motorcycle was airlifted to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with injuries considered life-threatening. The dryer from the minivan was taken by ambulance to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital.

The Lakewood Police Department and the McHenry County Sheriff's Office Major Accident Investigation Team are investigating the crash.
