Motorcyclist killed in Fremont crash identified

FREMONT, Calif. — A man who was killed when his motorcycle struck a guardrail in Fremont earlier this month has been identified by the coroner's office.

Dave Schummers, 64, was driving on Niles Canyon Road on May 19 around 9:25 p.m. when his motorcycle struck a guardrail protector and he was ejected into the brush bordering Niles Canyon Creek, according to police.

Despite the best efforts of medical personnel, Schummers was pronounced deceased at the scene.
