Motorcyclist killed in Decatur crash identified | Best Stories

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) – A motorcyclist who was killed after crashing into two different utility poles in Decatur has been identified by the coroner.

Macon County Coroner Michael Day said Nathan G. Doub, 22, of Decatur, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash Monday.

Police were called to the intersection of N. Main Street and McKinley Avenue at 6:45 a.m. Monday.

Decatur police said the motorcyclist was heading south on Main Street, approaching McKinley. Doub left the east side of the road and struck a utility pole.

Police said he then continued south and struck a second utility pole.

Police said Doub was wearing a helmet and had a motorcycle endorsement on his driver's license.

DPD said it is unknown at this time whether Doub was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Speed ​​was a contributing factor in the accident.

Members of the Fatal Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene and are investigating the accident.
