Mother of missing Bahamas woman Taylor Casey says police are doing 'bare minimum' to find her

(NewsNation) — Nearly two weeks after Chicago resident Taylor Casey disappeared from a yoga retreat in the Bahamas, her family says investigators have not shared any new information about her case.

“No news, no information on where Taylor is or where Taylor might have been. Nothing,” Casey's mother, Colette Seymore, said during an appearance on “NewsNation Now.”

Casey has not been seen since the evening of June 19, when she disappeared from a yoga retreat at the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat, where she was taking classes to become a yoga teacher.

Casey's family, including her mother, returned to Chicago after traveling to the Bahamas following Casey's disappearance, but Seymore says there have been no updates since then.

“Since I’ve been back in the States, nothing. I haven’t heard from any of them. I’m not sure if the FBI is involved. You know, I heard someone say that, but I don’t think that’s happening,” Seymore said. “It’s been very difficult for me to get back on a plane and come back without my child. Very difficult and no answers.”

“I think the investigative team, the Royal Bahamas Police Force, is doing the bare minimum,” Seymore added.

Efforts to find Casey intensified Thursday, with the help of a canine unit. Authorities hope to track down the yoga enthusiast's scent.

Due to the vast and isolated nature of the retreat, local police have begun using drone technology to search for signs on the western end of Paradise Island.

The 41-year-old was traveling to Paradise Island as part of her interest in yoga. Casey had made the trip to acquire additional certification.

In an emotional interview, Seymore spoke directly to her daughter, saying, “I believe from the bottom of my heart that you are alive. Please reach out to us. We love you, we miss you, and we need you home with us.”
