Mother of girls stabbed at Braintree Theater says suspect was laughing during attack – Boston 25 News

The AMC Braintree 10 movie theater was open again Sunday after four children were stabbed the night before. The suspect, Jared Ravizza, 26, was later arrested on Cape Cod and is linked to an investigation into a death in Connecticut and the shooting of two McDonald's employees in Plymouth on the same day.

Lisa Dembowski said her three daughters and a friend had gone to see the movie “If” when they were attacked.

“Shaken, they're OK physically, I think they are, the kids are resilient but I think they're terrified,” Dembowski said.

She said the four children were the only ones in the room when the suspect came up behind them. Dembowski said her older daughter was leaning forward when she was stabbed.

“He put her in the back, then my other daughter in the upper chest, then my last daughter on his arm, laughing the whole time, then he grabbed their friend and ran away,” he said. -she declared.

Dembowski said the girls tried to chase the suspect but stopped to ask employees for help.

“AMC didn’t believe them, did nothing and they had to call the police themselves,” she said.

Dembowski said her three daughters were taken to Boston Medical Center to be evaluated by a trauma team. They are now recovering at home.

“They never want to go to the movies again. I think the younger two are handling it a little better, the older one is very protective of them,” she said. “She had to protect them and deal with all this and call the police and call us. and do everything adults should do.

Dembowski said his children did not know the suspect or why he would have gone on the violent spree.

“I hope he gets what he deserves,” she said. “I understand mental health, I'm a counselor, I understand it, I think it's a pretty sick person to be harming children.”

Boston 25 has contacted AMC multiple times to ask why they would call the police and what their security protocol is for letting people into a theater. They didn't respond.

The Plymouth County prosecutor said Sunday that Ravizza faces charges of assault with intent to murder and two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon after allegedly attacking two employees of a McDonald's in Plymouth an hour after leaving the AMC in Braintree.

The prosecutor's office says surveillance video shows Ravizza driving through the McDonald's drive-thru window at the Route 3 rest stop, stabbing a 28-year-old employee with a large knife. Authorities say Ravizza then parked his black Porsche, entered the McDonald's and stabbed a second employee, a 21-year-old woman. Both victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals.

Ravizza then fled the scene, ultimately totaling the Porsche in a fiery crash on Cotuit Road in Sandwich, where he was taken into custody.

Ravizza is currently being held at South Shore Hospital while he is treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Sources also tell Boston 25 that Ravizza is also linked to a death investigation in Deep River, Connecticut, which began earlier Saturday afternoon.
