Mother of 3 year-old stabbed in North Olmsted Giant Eagle, police say

NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio (WOIO) – The North Olmsted Police Department and Emergency Medical Services are investigating a stabbing of a giant eagle Monday afternoon.

Police arrested 32-year-old Bionca Ellis. It is unclear where the suspect was held.

North Olmsted Mayor Nicole Dailey Jones said the three-year-old boy and his mother were immediately transported to St. John Medical Center where they are currently undergoing treatment.

Police say they responded to several calls about a stabbing around 3 p.m.

Police have not released the condition of the two victims involved.

“Our hearts go out to both victims of what appears to be a random act of violence,” Dailey Jones wrote in a statement.

The Giant Eagle, in the 27200 block of Lorain Road, is where a murder-suicide took place last year.

Giant Eagle provided the following statement to 19 News:

We are aware of the reported incident and are working with authorities. For the moment, they (the authorities) are the best source of information.

Ellis has no violent criminal history.
